This exhibition, which will include ceramics, metalwork, textiles, wood, stone, furniture and arms and armour ranging from the 7th to 19th centuries, aims to present the rich diversity of Islamic Art to official, diplomatic and academic communities and also a general public in Saudi Arabia and neighbouring states. A permanent record of the exhibition will be a book to which Jennifer Scarce, Jennifer Weardon, Dr Robert Elgood and the late Professor Geza Fehervari have written studies of a) Wood, stone works and furniture, b) Textiles, c) Arms and armours and metal works, d) Ceramics respectively.
The exhibition will have extensive media coverage. Directors of international islamic art museum collections will be invited to attend the opening and review the collections. They will also be encouraged to offer comments on the presentation and recommendations for educational programmes.
